Stumik Bug/Bottled Violence - Stumikviolence

Stumik Bug, hailing from Burlington, North Carolina, was a screamo emo band consisting of three members: Arlene, Andres, and Johan. The group was established in December 2021 but unfortunately disbanded in October 2023. Their most recent musical endeavor, titled "Stumikviolence," involved a split release with Bottled Violence, a two-piece powerviolence band based on the East Coast featuring Caden and Landon.. The split released July 7th of 2023.

Stumik Bug

We Wanna Be Like I Hate Myself So Here's a Long Name For a Stupid Song

A song that starts off with smooth riding drums leading to soft melodies and riffs. The sample in the background almost gives you a sense of familiarity, a nostalgic feeling. I felt a roar of emotions while listening to this song. It almost sends you back in time to when you were a kid. A truly beautiful song.

Awene Song

A more fast paced song compared to the first. The drums really stand out in this song. The way they flow. This song just feels like calm waters met with crashing waves. It gives you unexpected turns and twists. A truly remarkable piece of art.

Iluvmycat

The rawness of the sound really makes this song the most enjoyable of them all in my opinion. The vocals, done by Arlene, show her passion of loving her cat. Yes, this song is about loving a cat if you cant tell.

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?

This song has a WAYYYYYYY darker tone then the rest of the songs. It literally feels like Im about to face a boss in a video game or something and the screams of both of them really makes it feel even more like a boss fight. Quite a villainous song.

Overall, the Stumik Bug side of the split conveys a vast amount of emotions. There are so many unexpected twists and turns like I stated. Tranquil seas encountering turbulent surges.

Bottled Violence

Chicanery

The first song on Bottled Violence side of the split is an eerie one. There's a sample? A voice? Okay this song is making me lose it i dn thnk i can taek itanym.. Ĥ̶̭͉̖̠E̸̛̙̿̾̿̒̿̕Ḻ̶̹͒͛͒̑̈́̍͐P̷̡̮̤͈̼͇̤͌̂́̆͜

Fuck You Eric Wood

Oh my god is this song amazing. Its really authentic and SCREAMMSSS powerviolence. The fast paced drums with the heavily distorted Bass? Guitar? Idk either way holy shit does this have some fuckking breakdowns. The vocals sound amazing as well, really putting it in your face.

We HATE The Surf Kids

A fast paced song that makes you wanna jump up and fuck shit up. The 30 second blast songs are always the fucking best since its easier to put a super fast song in 30 seconds rather than a short one. Jeez dude can these guys come to Cali?

Hi-Hat

The sample at the beginning went so hard dude. Idk if thats a streamer or wut lol but holy canoli. Anyways, this song reminds me of Our Nations Finest by Sordo on the split with Chulo and god does that song make me go fuckn nutz. Props to these guys for really bringing out that powerviolence.

Smells Like Soup

Funky.

Everything Fucking Sucks

Definitely my favorite song on the Bottled Violence side. I fucking love this song. So much violence and noise Im now obsessed with this song. The vocals fit perfectly with the genre.

Morrisey Show

Dude.. beautiful transition. The two stepping 2 this song must go crazy. The noise on this song go absolutely crazy, IS THAT A FUCKING DJ? Dude what the fuck this band is sick. The fast lead up to the end that slows down is fucking crazy. Oh my god

Quit Yr Job

Sic sample at the beginning. Just a 2 second blast that still goes fucking hard. God I love this band

This band is a piece of fucking art and deserves more recognition. The amount of noise that is in the songs is fucking phenomenal. U might can tell that im typing differently Its js the fkn mood it put me in. 10 out of fucking 10 Bottled Violence props to you.

With that being said, Stumikviolence is an absolute gem that deserves wayyy more listens. Both sides of the split convey all kinds of emotions to the nostalgic feeling of Stumik Bug to the absolute breakdowns of Bottled Violence. This is an absolute masterpiece. So cool that I can have my hand on this CD, it deserves more recognition.
